WASHINGTON, DC—The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, announced today its endorsement of Julia Brownley for re-election to Congress (CA-26). Representative Brownley works hard to protect public health, preserve our environment and invest in clean energy.

“Representative Julia Brownley supports strong action to combat climate change because she understands that we have a moral obligation to protect our planet for future generations,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “She has demonstrated strong leadership in Congress by taking on Big Oil and other corporate polluters while fighting for cleaner air and water.”

“Congresswoman Julia Brownley has been a staunch advocate for the people of California, fighting to protect our environment and public health,” said Sarah Rose, CEO of the CLCV. “CLCV is proud to endorse Julia Brownley for re-election. She has continued to fight for local priorities in Congress while looking for new ways to preserve our planet and invest in clean energy.”

“Ventura County is one of the most beautiful districts in the nation to live, work and visit.  Our community understands the need to protect our environment, use our limited resources wisely and to plan responsibly for climate change.” said Brownley. “I am very proud to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and the California League of Conservation Voters, along with their partnership in protecting our environment on behalf of my constituents and our country.”

A member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) and the Safe Climate Caucus, Representative Brownley supports comprehensive action on climate change, and has co-sponsored legislation to help coastal cities adapt and respond to the impacts of climate disruption. She has also been a vocal proponent of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to place limits on the amount of dangerous carbon pollution that power plants can spew into our air.

Representative Brownley has advocated for a cleaner, more sustainable planet by co-sponsoring legislation that promotes the development of clean energy on public lands. She has also supported the extension of the production tax credit and the investment tax credit, which will help grow the wind and solar industry in California and across the nation.

Her voting record has earned Representative Brownley an impressive 93% score in her first year of Congress on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. The non-partisan Scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s record. For more information, visit http://scorecard.lcv.org.
